In the opening scene, filmed all in black and white, we see James surprising an MI6 section chief and then revealing that the chief is corrupt. The film takes a different and modern tone from the past ones. And no, I’m not talking about the ‘67 version starring David Niven. Now, they all do have their fair share of these, but I was very much surprised when I sat down about half a decade ago to actually try out Casino Royale. I thought all it comprised of was car chases, sex, and an incredible jaw line. Spoilers, of course.Īs a teenager, I never found much interest in James Bond.
